She Likes Me? (Part 3)

It’s recess week. Initially, when I heard of recess week, I thought that it was a week where you could just come to school and eat. Serious! After all, the only “recess” I heard of was in secondary school where “recess” meant the canteen and food.

Anyway, it’s recess week. Monday I had a group meeting on my Effective Communication Assignment 2. The meeting was quite productive. Today I did my Formal Lab Report, Reflective Writing 2 and prepared for another project on Management With Humour. Phew…it’s recess all right.

Let’s get back to the story. So where did I stop? Oh yah, here’s a little re-cap.

(Note: This is the third part of a story. For those who have not read part 1, you may click here. If you want part 2, it’s here.)

Did she just blushed? I don't know. And so she walked off as I sat on the table
with the paper and key chain. I unfolded the paper and lo and behold it was a
message. It was a hand phone number. I presume it's hers.

I turned over
the piece of paper and saw a one line message that really spoke a lot. Those
words somehow fit into that small piece of paper. That one line was:

Aku suka padamu.
(I like you.)

I lift up my head and saw
the girl who wrote this walk away. What should I do? Should I run to her?

So that was it. I held the note and keychain with my hand. As much as I would like to think and try to understand why she would send me a keychain of all things, I need to remember that En was walking further and further away. It’s like a dx/dt which gives you the rate at which En is walking away.

What should I do? Sheesh. This is so tough. Was she expecting me to like walk to her after reading the note? Or maybe she understands that I am an engineer and would try to understand why the keychain instead of a scientific calculator? Haiyo…

Me: Hey!

En continued walking. Either my “Hey!” wasn’t loud enough or she’s just too embarrassed to turn back and face me.

Me: HEY En!

Same thing. I better do something. I kept the keychain and folded the piece of paper back and placed both items into the small box. I kept the box into my bag. Then I lifted my head up and she was gone. Where could she go? The only way I could contact her then was through the number. Should I call her? It’s already late. It’s like 10.30pm. I decided maybe not today. So I went to the bus stop and waited for 179. I waited for the bus, the bus came and I took it. Simple, unlike what happened a few minutes ago.

The bus wasn’t crowded as it was already late. In the bus I began to think of the possible reasons why on earth would she give a keychain? To make things worse, it’s a keychain without any keys! Okay…maybe that wasn’t strange at all, but still why a keychain? This problem is to difficult to solve, so I shifted my attention towards the piece of paper (it’s the same thing in an exam where you shift to the next question if you are stuck with one).

I unfolded the piece of paper and looked at the message again. It was written with her normal handwriting. How do I know it’s her handwriting? Easy! When I studied with her, I saw her notes and hence her handwriting. The ink she used wasn’t like those fanciful types that glow-in-the-dark or James Bond ink that explodes after the recipient reads it. It was a simple and plain blue ink. The message in the paper that I can understand. It’s easy. No need to think too hard. It’s just like what she wrote. But it’s the keychain part that I don’t understand.

I folded the paper and took out the keychain. I looked at it and stared at it. You maybe thinking, “Hey, relax man. It’s just a gift. No need to think so hard. Keychain then keychain lah.” I know that too! Yet somehow, I feel that there’s something to it. I gave up. The bus reached Boon Lay and I switched to another bus to get back home.

I reached home and held a conference with my Dad and Mum. We sat around a table and I placed the two items there and asked for their opinion.

Do you think I really did that? Nope, the above paragraph didn’t happen.

I reached home and kept the gift. As I lay down to sleep I kept thinking over what had happened. Now the question is, do I like her? Anyone wants to use a lifeline? There’s no 50:50 as it’s just a “yes or no” situation. You can call me for help or you can poll the audience which happens to consist of only me.

Seriously, do I like her? It’s too early to say. Why? I only know that she’s from my course. I don’t really know her personality, likes, dislikes…etc. So far, she’s quite okay. She’s a nice person. It’s quite a delicate situation now because she likes me and she told me that. It’s one thing to like one person in secret and another thing to like that person and tell him/her.

Anyway, I had to study for my 3 CAs. So through the weekend, I just concentrated on my CAs.

Monday reached and I did my CAs. It so happened that all my 3 CAs were on the same day as En’s. After I had finished my CAs, I thought maybe I should contact her. After all, I have her number. But it’s so awkward if I call her. What am I going to say?

Me: Eh, why you write that arh?

Cannot right? Haiz. I guess my Effective Communication module didn’t prepare me for this scenario. So in the end, I went back home.

You know it’s strange that after your exams, you feel that you are very free? Like nothing to do like that? Some of my friends have not finished their CAs as some of their CAs fall on Thursday and Friday.

So I began to think again. Hm…maybe I should just call her. I believe her exams are over also. So I plucked up enough courage took that folded piece of paper and walked towards the phone.

I unfolded it and dialed the number written on the piece of paper. Sadly, her phone was engage. Oh okay. Maybe she’s discussing CA answers with her friends. In the meantime, maybe I should just bathe, which I did.

After bathing, I went to the phone again. I dialed her number. Sheesh, it was still engaged. Maybe she’s having a loooong discussion with her friends over exam answers. Well what to do? NTU students are all very smart and engage in long and intellectual conversations that I believe lasts for a very long time. So I went to have my dinner.

Dinner was quite okay. I finished my dinner and went to the phone. I dialed her number. It was engaged. Okay, maybe Monday’s a bad day for her phone. With that I went to sleep.

Then as the week passed, I could see that during lectures, En sat at a different place from where she normally sat. I guess it must be due to the confession.

This continued all the way until Thursday night. I didn’t try to call the previous days as I had tutorials, projects and stuff to do.

And so it was on Thursday night that I thought of what to say IF her phone was not engaged. I went to the phone (somehow the phone became an important landmark now) and dialed her number. It rang! There was a ring tone! Yay! Finally.

I waited. 2 rings. Maybe she’s running to her phone now.

I waited. 5 rings. Okay, so maybe she’s running to her phone from somewhere far.

I waited. 10 rings. Did her intellectual conversation on exam answers continue?

Then the ring tone changed to “toot-toot-toot”. And just when I thought I had managed to get through things had to turn out like this. You know such games are no fun at all, unless of course you are a third party reading all of this.

Okay. Maybe I should try again later. I took a bathe and had my dinner. Then I tried again. I dialed her number. The ring tone was there. Okay, nothing to be excited about as it’s just the first step.

I waited. 3 rings. 4 rings. 5 rings. (Reminds me of Pythagoras’ Theorem).

???: Hello?

Oh man! Shucks! I wasn’t prepared! I didn’t expect a reply but there was a reply. I recognized that voice. It’s her voice.

Me: Er…
En: Hello?

Did she know that I called? Did she have ID caller? Even if she had, did she know my phone number?

Me: It’s me.

That’s the dumbest way to introduce yourself over the phone, but hey, I don’t know what to say.

En: …

Then there was silence. I kept quiet, not knowing if she heard what I said.

Me: It’s me.
En: Yes I know. I heard that.

Oh good. At least she heard it. Now what should I say?

En: Wait a while.

Oh ok, at least, now I have some time to think of what to say. Maybe I should just ask her how her CAs were. Then maybe from there let the conversation flow. I waited for her to come back.

Suddenly, the phone hung up. What happened?

Anxious, I tried to call again. The ring tone was there.

???: Halo? Siapa tuh?
(Hello? Who is that?)

What on earth happened? The voice changed completely. The voice sounds like an aunty. Could it be her mother…?

Your Life Is Beautiful...Treasure It

Your life is beautiful...treasure it.

Sometimes, we don't really appreciate the life that we have. This video is touching and it really shows how important a life can be.

(Note: The ending is a spoiler. I don't really like the way it ended.)

She Likes Me? (Part 2)

(Finally, my exams are over. Can you imagine? I had 3 tests today! Had to run from one lab to another to do my exams. It sure was xiong but finally it's over. However, I am worried for my Physics though. Anyway, the exams are over and now let's get back to the story. Part 1 can be found here.)

So where was I? Oh yah, let me paste the last part here for a little re-cap.

Me: Hey, you want to eat something?
She: Well, now that you mentioned it, I am getting hungry.
Me: Well, sometimes it is good to take a break you know.
She: Yah. By the way, thanks for the invite.

What is this? It's not like friendster or gmail invites. It's only a meal. Maybe I am just too sensitive.

Anyway, should I ask whether her friend is coming? What if he comes looking for her and she's not around?

Me: What happened to your friend?
She: Haha, don't worry, he's here already?
Me: Here already? Huh?

Then suddenly she gasped and blushed. She ran off to I-don't-know-where. What could possibly happen? Could it be...

(To be continued)

I knew it. As some of you have hinted over at the tag board, you guys maybe right. I don't know. I can't really confirm until it's really obvious else what if I am just being sensitive and things aren't what we all imagine it to be? Very paiseh right?

So I waited. Where did she run off to? I don't know. I guess her friend could be me. "Could be" because as I've said, I can't really confirm things. So that's about it. The End.

The second time I saw her was at the Cherry Boom concert. Some of you might have read about it from the earlier post. I didn't know she was there. Did she know that I went for the concert? I don't know. Anyway, after the concert, I left with my friend. My friend went his way while I walked to LWN Library to prepare for my 3 CAs that I had today. So I went there. Guess where I sat? I sat at one of the blue chairs on the second level of LWN near where she and I met the other time. I took out my notes and prepared my calculator. As I placed my stuff down, I saw her.

(Maybe I should give a name as referring to the person as "she" and "her" can be difficult. Let's call her En.)

Should I like wave at her or something? After all, she ran off embarrassed the other time. Or maybe I should just concentrate at my Maths, Physics and Life Sciences exams on Monday? As I looked up, I could see that she was just a few steps away from me walking towards my direction. Then suddenly our eyes met. She saw me. I don't know what to say. She stood still.

Let me tell you it was the most awkward situation ever. Imagine a guy sitting down with notes and calculator and a girl standing a few steps from him and both of them looking at each other not knowing what to say. By the way, it's not like I like or hate her. It's too early to say. So being the gentleman that I am I started the conversation.

Me: Did you go for the Cherry Boom concert?
En: Yes. Did you?
Me: Yes.

There. First contact has been made. It wasn't so bad after all. She was still standing. Should I invite her to sit? What if she refuse? Then I will be super paiseh. What if she was too shy to sit? Haiyah, sometimes such things can be complicated. Now I know why some people study Quantum Mechanics instead of spending time with their girlfriends.

Me: So where are you sitting?
En: I don't know.

Is she waiting for me? Haiya. Okay lah, just offer hear a seat.

Me: Erm, do you...

Before I could finish my sentence, she took a seat one chair away from me. So this means that there was an empty cube facing the other side in between us. If you go to LWN 2nd level you'll understand what I mean. For those who don't understand it's as if there's a gap in between my seat and her seat.

I opened my notes and read: "Angular momentum is equal to...

En: Excuse me.
Me: Yes?
En: I am sorry about the other day.

I act stupid.

Me: Which day?
En: The one at the library.
Me: Oh that one. Okay lah...it's okay. No harm done.
En: Thanks.

Wah so polite. Should I say you are welcome? No need lah else like "Effective Communication" elective like that. After that she said something that made me froze.

En: You have a nice blog.
Me: !!!

I was stunned! Oh no! How ever did she get to find my blog? I know Google is a powerful search engine but is it that powerful that by typing "the blur guy who stand there when I blush and ran" you'll get to my blog?

Me: Er...how did you find it?
En: Haha...it's a secret.

Oh no, I can't study already because this girl here read my blog. Oh no, how embarrassing that can be. And what secret can it be?

En: I like your stories.
Me: Which one?
En: Let me see...the super long one is really long but nice.
Me: You mean the one with the guy visiting the girl's family one?
En: Yah that one. You know, not many people write such stuff. Oh yah, are you free now? I need to collect something from some place and was hoping that...you could...help me.

Is this a trap? Would I be ambushed by 4 ninja turtles and a talking rat later? I am supposed to study for my 3 CAs and here is En who is in need of help. So what did I do? I took out a pen and paper and wrote down the pros and cons of helping her versus studying. Did I really do that? No I didn't, I went to help her.

Me: Okay.

So we left our stuff in LWN and walked out. It was late already at around 9.00pm. So we walked from LWN to wherever she's going.

Me: So where are you going?
En: My friend's hall to collect something.
Me: So where is your friend staying?
En: She stays somewhere near Hall 5.
Me: Hall 5? That's like the end of South Spine!
En: Yah I know.

Sheesh. It's a far walk. Oh well, it's Friday night and maybe I should just relax a bit. So we made our way from LWN to Nanyang Drive to ADM. From there we went through Nanyang Lake and onto Hall 5. The journey was quiet until we reached Nanyang Lake. By then, it was too quiet and so I started a conversation.

Me: So how did you find my blog?
En: Well, a friend of mine introduced it to me.
Me: I see. Which friend?
En: Haha...well, I can't really tell you.
Me: Oh ok.
En: You write interesting stuff.
Me: Really? Thanks.
En: Gak banyak orang punya pikirin yang sperti dengan mu.
(Not many people are like you.)

Whoa! She speaks my language!

Me: How did you know that I can speak...
En: I read from your blog :)
Me: So which part of Indonesia are you from?
En: Haha...it's too much of a coincidence but I am from...
Me: Medan?!?!?!
En: :D

I almost fainted. First she knew my blog, next she speaks Bahasa and comes from the same place where I grew up from. What's next? Is she going to transform to an angel and carry me and fly around NTU?

Me: I think I am about to faint...
En: Haha...relax. If you faint I won't be able to carry you back to LWN.
Me: True.
En: Aku suka lagu yang kamu translate.
(I like the song that you translated)
Me: Maksud mu "Kenangan Terindah?"
(You mean "Kenangan Terindah?")
En: Iya.
(Yes.)
Me: Kenapa?
(Why?)
En: Gak tau. Mungkin...
(Don't know. Maybe...)

Just then, someone called her name and she went over to that person. I stood there as I thought of the recent things that happened. First the meeting at LWN, then the concert, then my blog, then her background. It's enough to make a story from it.

She came back with something. It was a small box.

En: Can we go back to LWN? My friend took my stuff and passed it to me here so that I need not walk all the way there.
Me: Okay.

So we walked back to LWN. As we walked back, I asked her.

Me: So what's inside?
En: Guess?
Me: A bomb?
En: Haha...nope it's not.
Me: No offence yah.
En: It's okay.
Me: I don't know.
En: Well, it's a present.

Oh okay. Who is it for? And why take a present in the middle of the night?

Me: Why take a present in the middle of the night?
En: Well, that's my business.

Oh okay loh. Win liao loh. I accompany you walk all the way here and you say such things.

En: Why angry arh? Haha.
Me: No lah, just thinking about something.
En: About what?
Me: Well, that's my business.
En: Ooi...
Me: Haha...

Well, I am just returning the favor...lol. Then suddenly I remembered something.

Me: Wait...what time does LWN close?
En: Oh yah! It closes at 9.30pm. We better run if not our stuff will be stuck inside!
Me: Don't like that leh, I got 3 CAs on Monday.
En: Haha...and I thought I was the only one who had 3 CAs on Monday.
Me: Let's quicken our pace.

And so we walked faster and made our way back to LWN. Luckily the place did not close completely. We grabbed our stuff and made our way out of the library. Haiz...I actually planned to study but in the end accompanied her and walked around.

En: So sorry to have disturbed your studies.
Me: Nevermind lah, the most I study at home.

Inside I was crying for the time wasted.

En: As a reward, I'll let you in on a secret.
Me: What is it?
En: Let's find a place to sit down.

We walked and found an empty wooden table. So we sat there. I sat down first and she sat in front of me. She took out the small box she took from her friend.

En: It's for you.
Me: Luckily it's not a bomb.
En: Hey!
Me: Joking...joking. So what is it?
En: Well, open it and tell me what you see.

I opened it and saw a neatly folded piece of paper and a small key chain that spelt her name.

En: So what did you see?
Me: A bomb.
En: Hey!

You know, sometimes, I can be so unromantic.

Me: Joking...joking. I see a piece of paper and a key chain with your name.
En: Okay. Good. I think I better go back now. Thank you for your time...I really...enjoyed it.
Me: Oh okay.

Did she just blushed? I don't know. And so she walked off as I sat on the table with the paper and key chain. I unfolded the paper and lo and behold it was a message. It was a hand phone number. I presume it's hers.

I turned over the piece of paper and saw a one line message that really spoke a lot. Those words somehow fit into that small piece of paper. That one line was:

Aku suka padamu.
(I like you.)

I lift up my head and saw the girl who wrote this walk away. What should I do? Should I run to her?

Cherry Boom Concert in NTU

Quite a few interesting things happened this week.

1.

The first was my first test for my elective "Sound In Everyday Life". The lecturer was giving out the exam papers starting from the front. He did say that we were suppose to start the exam together, but some students seated at the front turned the papers and looked at the questions! I was situated at the middle, so it wasn't that bad in that I won't be the last to receive the paper. The lecturer still have not reached my row. I looked at those students in front who had the papers with them. They were looking at the questions loh! Then the lecturer noticed it and announced that no one was supposed to look at the papers. Did those students care? I don't think so, they still occasionally flipped over and looked at the questions. One of them even dared to take out her lecture notes and looked! Wow! It wasn't an open book examination and there was this lady who referred to it! Talk about daring. The paper came to my hand, I placed it blank side facing upwards and waited. The time given was 50 minutes and there were 8 questions. I figured out that I would have enough time to do and need not be a super hero and look. Just follow law. I was right. I finished the paper in 20 minutes and checked through.

What did I learn from this experience? It's always good to check through your exam paper as I spotted one mistake I made. The second thing I learnt was that there are anxious students who wants a preview of the paper before other students.

2.

Cherry Boom. You heard of them? It's a girl band from Taiwan which will be having a concert in NTU on Friday (yesterday). Earlier on, I saw on CampusBuzz that you could register and stand a chance to win some tickets to this concert (I realized later that free tickets were distributed). Since I have never really been in one before and since I was quite bad at winning lucky draws, I registered and forgot about it. Little did I know that I actually won a pair of tickets! Wow...okay lah, I wasn't really that excited as I have never heard of Cherry Boom before. Never mind, maybe I could just collect the ticket and sell it on eBay or something. The collection date was Friday, so I just waited.

3.

Yes, my voice is much deeper now. It's due to a sore throat. Earlier on I had fever and blocked nose. Most of my friends were sick also. Maybe our friends at SBS had some experiments that gone wrong resulting in some outbreak. It's a good thing that T-virus and Umbrella Corporations exist only in movies. Life wasn't easy. Lectures were hard to concentrate on with a spinning head, but I did learn some stuff from it. One, when you are sick, you actually lose weight. This is good news for those who are above the BMI healthy range and bad news for those below. So when you are sick, think of the light at the end of the tunnel - the weight you will lose. Okay maybe it's not such a good thing to look forward to but still better than nothing right?

4.

Friday came, I went to collect the tickets for the Cherry Boom concert. I asked the one who handed me the ticket when the concert was and she said today. Today? I thought it would be a week later or something. The trouble was that I wanted to attend an Energetics talk on something like tapping into your brain's hidden potential in LT19A since on Monday (two days from today) I have 3 exams! So I was hoping that the talk may give useful tips on how to cram 3 subjects in the weekend or maybe sell some wonder pill which after eating the consumer will dream of the exam questions. Okay I know, it's not possible.

Anyway the dilemma was Energetics talk or Cherry Boom concert? Like what an engineer would do, I thought of the cost and benefits of going to either one. If I go for the Energetics talk (which was free), I may (not will as they may just talk about general stuff like "You must study hard before exam") not learn anything. If I go for the Cherry Boom concert, I would have at least felt what it is like to be in a concert. Also, I am interested in learning from the female drummer. It's interesting to see a female play drums as it's not a very common sight. Some more if I go for the concert, I would have gained on the free ticket which I won, a free ice-cream, and a chance to win some prizes in some lucky draw. If I go for the talk, I would just gain on some energetics hoo hah which I can find on the Internet. Good judgment? I don't know. In the end, I decided to go for the concert. Now there was a second problem. Who should I give the second ticket to?

Ah yes, why not try to call the kind lady who helped me with my ankle? I called Theresia but she said she couldn't make it due to the bad weather (it was about to rain) and she was already walking to her hall. So who else? I looked at my two friends who were with me. They are guys. The thing is, going to a concert with another guy just seems weird...especially so if it's just the two of us. Way weird man. Oh heck, I have a free ticket and should not waste it. I asked my 2 friends and they said that they were busy. Oh ok, maybe I should just go for the Energetics talk. So one of my 2 friends who registered for the talk went with me to LT19A.

As I walked over from LKC LT to LT19A, I find it very weird. Here I have a free ticket for a concert that provides free ice-cream and where I am going to? A talk. Something is wrong. Maybe they should have a module for engineers to make decisions in such situations. Anyway, to cut the long story short, I persuaded my friend to go for the concert. And so we made our way back to LKC again. It was a good exercise. I think 4 years of walking in NTU can make almost anyone fitter.

We reached LKC. Somehow LKC reminds me of KFC. Never mind. Coming back to the topic, the concert started late. I guess the band was late or something like that. I saw my friend in CAC as an usher and I realized that it wasn't easy to be in crowd control as everyone have their own way of thinking and doing things, especially so if we are talking about a teenage crowd where you have young and vibrant people.

As I was walking I saw Her (the one in mentioned in the "She Likes Me?" post). Lol...was she here for the concert to? I don't know. Anyway I went to the ice cream booth and asked for the free ice cream that I was entitled to. The kind lady there said that the ice cream had not arrived yet. Oh well, I guess my friend and I just have to wait. So we waited. While waiting, there was a man from Advisors Alliance came and talked to us. I knew that it was some sales talk for us to join and be under his team. Not my kind of conversation, yet I still listened to what he has to say. He said something and the way he talked just...don't know lah. The ice cream finally arrived and we took our ice cream. After taking our ice cream, we walked over to the man to hear what he has to say. After awhile, people started to go into the LT and this man was still trying to convince us to join him. I forgot how the conversation ended but we said thank you and left. We walked into KFC LKC LT. For the first time ever, I am going to see a concert in LKC where I had my maths and materials science lecture. It's kinda interesting to see how the LT is under different situations.

We walked into the LT and somehow my friend was separated from me and the lady usher told us to sit on the front row. I asked if I could reserve a seat for my friend and she said no as people are coming in. Oh ok, she's a lady and it's not nice to argue with ladies so I just sat down while looking for my friend. They blasted the music as people made their way in. Let me tell you the music was loud. it was almost deafening.

I applied the knowledge I learnt in my "Sound In Everyday Life" elective whereby loud sound can make you deaf. Actually it's logic lah. It was loud, and my ears hurt. I wonder how the young people in front manage it.

My friend walked in and I quickly waved to him to sit near the empty seat beside me. When he sat down he too mentioned that the music was too loud. So we made our way to the back. The sound level was much better there. My friend sat on my left and some lady sat on my right. The emcee was some lady from Yes 93.3 FM. After selecting four people from the audience for some stage games, the emcee introduced the band.

The four ladies walked out and played some songs. The songs were okay. I was paying attention to the drummer rather than the concert to see if I could learn a few tricks from her. She was good and pretty skilled. I mean if you are a band drummer you have to be of a certain standard. I wrote down on a sheet of paper some rhythms that she played and the girl beside me was looking at me wondering what this engineering student was doing in a concert with a pen and paper? She maybe thinking that I was calculating the resonant frequencies, harmonics and overtones from the instrument. Sheesh, not all engineers are like that.

Halfway through, I saw a group of foreign students standing up and cheering and waving. They don't understand Chinese and are more hyped up than us who understand Chinese. Unbelievable. Or maybe it's just exam stress. Anyway, I found out later that they were from France.

The concert ended and as I made my way to the exit, I saw Her! Lol! She was in the concert after all. Anyway, I didn't talk to her as she seemed occupied and left the LT with my friend. What a long post. I better study for my three CAs on Monday. See how much time blogging can take? It took me around 90 minutes to write this. Lol! Do you take this long to write a post too?

By the way, it's nice to see people tag on my board and thanks for the tags. I may take sometime to reply as you know NTU is where smart students study so of course we are busy attending concerts with studies. When I am free, I will continue on the "She Like Me?" post again.

She Likes Me?

She: So where are you going now?
Me: I am going to the library. Lee Wee Nam to be exact. You want to follow?
She: Never mind.
Me: Okay.

She got the courage to talk to me. Call me old-fashioned or whatever but for a girl to approach a guy and ask him where he's going is a daring thing to do. I sensed something, but kept it to myself lest I was wrong.

She's someone from the same course as me. Recently, she has been looking at me for quite some time. I don't know if it is something girls do when they are bored or maybe she's just interested in me. Of course I maybe wrong. I won't reveal names though.

Anyway, I was in LWN and chose a spot to study at the "Science" level. I placed my bag beside me and lo and behold, guess who was there beside me!

Me: Eh?
She: Surprised?
Me: Well...no, I just said "Eh?".
She: You are lame you know.

At that point of time, I wanted to say that if I was lame, I wouldn't be able to walk to LWN, but I refrained lest she find me lame-beyond-repair.

Me: So what are you studying?
She: The same course as you.
Me: Duh! I mean the subjects. Like Physics or Maths.
She: Lol...I am studying Physics.

Wait...it's not possible that she "lol-ed" in real life. Let me correct that.

She: Haha...I am studying Physics. What about you?

Shucks. I am studying Physics too but it's too much of a coincidence so I said some other thing.

Me: I am...erh...trying to meditate.

Oh no. I just gave the most crappiest reason ever.

She: Meditate? In the library?
Me: Well, er...you see...

I am in deep trouble. She may think I am a nut case.

Me: I have a blog but have not been updating it for a long time so I am thinking of something to write.
She: You have a blog? Cool! What's the address?

Oh no, she's asking for my blog address. The conversation is getting from bad to worse for me so I strayed from the topic by asking her a question.

Me: Wait...wait...wait, why are you here? I thought you said earlier that you didn't want to come?
She: Well, I am meeting my friend here you see. He told me that he will be here.

Is that an excuse? I don't know, anyway, I was tired of playing games and took out my Physics stuff to study.

She: I thought you said you were going to meditate?
Me: Nah, better study. CA is coming.

And so we studied. As I studied I was stuck with something. Should I ask her? Paiseh lah, I am a man leh, where got guy ask girl one? Aiya, who cares about such things?

Me: Excuse me, do you know how to do this problem?
She: Haha.

Wah piang! I ask only and she laughed!

Me: What happened?

She: I was just thinking of asking you the same question!
Me: -_-

If I was patient to wait for a few more seconds...

She: It's a tough question.
Me: Yah I know.

And with that, we continued to study.

We studied for like about one hour already when I became hungry. Should I ask her along to grab a bite? I don't know. What if her friend comes while we were away? Wait...is her friend coming in the first place? What if her friend was an excuse for her to be there? If that was the case, she must be daring. But if I leave her like that by herself, then it won't be very gentlemanly of myself right?

AIYO!

It's almost a month since I last blogged! Wow...that's a record. It only shows how busy life is in NTU or maybe it's just busy for me.

Anyway, a lot of things happened in these few weeks. I got sick with a fever of 38.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday but thank God that I recovered on Monday. Monday is my longest day so it will be no joke to go through your longest day with a fever unless of course you are trying to break some record.

Anyway, what interesting things have happened in my life? Well, there are a few things.

Let me start of with the first thing which is the Adobe Workshop which I attended. It was on Tuesday afternoon. I went there with my friends and tried to learn what we could as after all it's free. So why not just sit down and learn something? We went there, registered and took our seats. We waited a while before the speaker introduced himself. He called himself an Adobe Evangelist. Now that's something new. I didn't know that there was such a fancy title such as "Adobe Evangelist" who goes around teaching people how to use Adobe products. Evangelists, from my knowledge, are people who preach the Gospel. Anyway, he said he was an AE (Adobe Evangelist) and started talking. There was this point where he was about to open a graphic file he created to show us and he said something like this.

AE: Now I am going to open one file to show all of you. After I open it, all of you must say very nice okay? Because I made one.

I rolled my eyes and waited for this supposedly fantastic picture he was about to show us.

Suddenly the screen showed this picture and there was silence for that split second.

(Note: The picture wasn't exactly this one but something similar.)

Me: AIYO!

The next thing I heard was people laughing. Why were they laughing? Because instead of saying very nice like what the AE told us to do I said "AIYO!". Worse still, the room was silent when I said that. I became famous for that instant.

AE: I know it's not that nice lah but I heard someone say "aiyo". Who was it arh?

My friends looked and me and I looked at the AE. I smiled to myself.

Okay maybe the picture was not so bad but I was expecting more.

Another thing I saw was the final result of Britain's Got Talent. Remember the cute girl who sang "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and the man who sang one opera song? Yeah, that's the show. I know the results were out long ago but hey in Singapore, we don't hear anything about it. I was curious as to who won the contest and decided to check it out. Personally, I felt that both the girl and the man were good.

Here's the video of the girl Connie Talbot.

Here's the winner of the show.

Anyway, both of them were great singers.
